The Employee Benefits Practice Group is experienced in dealing with employee benefit matters in mergers and acquisitions, ERISA litigation, tax qualification of pension plans with Puerto Rico tax authorities, correction proceedings with the U.S. Department of Labor, and other complex pension and deferred compensation arrangements for employees and other individuals.
We take a hands-on approach to counseling clients concerning the technical operations of tax qualified pension plans, including assisting in tax reporting with local and federal authorities, performing and reviewing various coverage and discrimination testing, as well as compliance with ongoing statutory amendments of applicable local and federal statutes.

Our firm’s role included assistance in pension and welfare benefit matter transfers in connection with the company’s separation with respect to employees and beneficiaries in Puerto Rico.
- Assisted US Retail Mortgage Lender establish new retirement plan for employees in Puerto Rico as part of expansion of operations in the island.
- Assisted in compliance with audit by U.S. Department of Labor of insurance company’s group health plan offering to multiple clients in Puerto Rico.
