Get to know Reinaldo

Reinaldo Andrés Díaz-Pérez is a member in the Tax, Employee Benefits and Estate and Trusts practice groups within the Tax Department. He has over 13 years of experience providing creative advice, tax updates and solutions to client’s business tax needs; from the organization of the legal entity to requesting tax incentives and credits available to the applicable industry that are indispensable to the success of the company. Also, Reinaldo has extensive experience with employee benefits matters, providing related consultation and compliance to pension and benefit plans in Puerto Rico.

Reinaldo is also a notary public which allows him to assist individuals with their estate, asset protection and tax planning including drafting of last will and testaments, durable power deeds, living wills, constitution of trusts, and establishing legal entities among other strategies to ensure asset protection, and tax efficiency.

Prior joining Ferraiuoli LLC, Reinaldo worked as a senior associate for Deloitte Tax LLC, an international tax accounting firm which provided him a strong background for understanding financial needs and tax/accounting-related issues inherent in running a business.

Why Ferraiuoli?

Ferraiuoli LLC is a solid law firm that has sustained rapid but healthy growth, composed of attorneys of the highest quality who have attained the respect of their peers and clients within their respective areas of practice. I decided to join Ferraiuoli because I was confident that with Pedro Notario leading the Tax Practice and René Avilés at the helm of the Taxes & Employee Benefits Practice Group, I would receive top notch professional guidance and training, I would be exposed to challenging legal matters and would have the opportunity to work with the best businesses and individuals as clients.
Even though today Ferraiuoli is one of the largest law firms in Puerto Rico, we have maintained a collegial environment, both internally and with our clients (some of whom have grown along with us since the beginning and now are also leaders in their industries).

What is your primary focus?

My primary focus is to provide the highest quality legal services and develop strong relationships with our clients. I also strive to be a proactive problem-solver by anticipating legal issues before they arise, addressing them with our clients in a comprehensive and thoughtful manner, and providing timely and useful legal advice on tax issues, transactions and compliance.

I find it most rewarding when I can help our clients navigate the highly technical and constantly changing Puerto Rico and Federal statutes that impact their business operations or complex transactions, and when I assist them in the implementation of strategies that may reduce their income tax, estate, property, municipal, and sales and use tax burdens.

Looking forward, what you see?

Some people say that only two things in life are certain: death and taxes. The Puerto Rico tax system needs to be reformed to provide economic justice for those who incur a greater tax burden and to reduce the likelihood of tax evasion. I think that with a restructured tax system, Puerto Rico’s economic endeavours will improve significantly. I believe in Puerto Rico and I also believe we will transform our island to a real island of enchantment.
