Ferraiuoli’s Sonia Colón, Esq., to address Symposium as a guest speaker

Sonia Colón, Esq., Chair of Ferraiuoli’s Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights Practice Group was invited to speak at the Modern Municipal Restructurings: Puerto Rico and Beyond Symposium – to be held at the Boston University School of Law. Mrs. Colón will be offering a conference presentation, along with other leading legal and business authorities, regarding municipal restructurings with a focus on the unique case and situation of Puerto Rico.

The Island faces unique challenges with unprecedented credit rating downgrades, an ever-growing public debt and historic economic deceleration. Puerto Rico’s recently approved Act 71 (Puerto Rico Public Corporations Debt Enforcement and Recovery Act) was struck down in federal court on February 6, 2015. The Island is seeking inclusion under Chapter 9 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code – from which it is currently excluded. And multiple public corporations are facing large payments to bondholders this year. The Symposium promises to be of great interest, relevance and timeliness, given these historic developments.

The conference will take place on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 12:45 to 5:00 P.M. at the Boston University School of Law, Sumner M. Redstone Building, Room 103.
